Tuff-bilt Tractors

A practical tractor since 1974

The Tuff-bilt design has evolved while retaining its visibility, versatility and mechanical integrity.

1974 – Thomas-Bilt begins

Bud Thomas of Cumming, Georgia designed the original Thomas-Bilt with a front electric lift, 14 hp engine and three-speed transmission.

1975 – The Tuff-bilt name

Bobby Wallace acquired the company, renamed it Tri-Tractor Manufacturing and introduced Tuff-bilt. A rear lift and hydraulic front and rear three-point hitches became defining features.

2005-2007 – Engineering and return to production

Rowland Matthews and Southeastern Industrial Resources completed an 18-month engineering and testing program. Production resumed in 2007 with hydrostatic drive.

2015-2016 – Nebraska manufacturing

Tuff-bilt Tractors Manufacturing, Inc. acquired the system and moved manufacturing to Nebraska, updating the platform with Kohler EFI power, a longer frame and reinforced lift components.

2021 – Current ownership chapter

Rita Dunn became sole owner. The company continued serving market gardeners, small landowners, landscape businesses, organic farms and specialty cultivation operations.
